If you have a podcast, you have a business. Like any business, you likely want to make money. The easiest way to make money is through ads. Check out a great article with our friends at Cabana, the ad management company behind Crime Junkie. What makes a podcast sponsorable?

In 2019 Apple dropped some groundbreaking podcast statistics. Listeners always knew there was an abundance of podcasts available, but when you tie some concrete numbers to that volume, it can become a bit overwhelming and exciting. In Q4 of 2019 the Apple Podcast directory broke the 750,000 podcasts. Multiply that by how many episodes exist, the episode count is over 30 million.
Not only have we seen the volume podcasts grow over the past decade, so has listenership. According to Edison Research, in 2006 only 11% of the U.S. population had listened to a podcast, a number that has grown to 51% in 2019. The data proves that there are literally thousands of podcasts you can listen to and likely a million by the time you are reading this.
Where do you start if you are new to podcasts? How can you find new shows if your feed is getting stale? Unfortunately, it’s easy to fall victim to the iTunes and Spotify charts. Not that those podcasts aren’t great and worthy of your time, but there are cases the rating system works against listeners. It’s easy to find a podcast on the top 10 that will have yet to release an episode and will have a 5-star rating. If you are only listening to the highly promoted podcast, you are missing out on an entire world of independent podcasts.
At Podfluence our goal is to join podcast lovers with the community of independent podcasters through our reviews and features. We are already faced with millions of options as listeners, and finding new podcasts will continue to be a problem.
Podfluence is a place for listeners to find new and exciting podcasts and for podcasters to share their passion.
