Podcast Review: Unsolved Death Murder Crimes

Unsolved Death Murder Crimes

True Crime is our motto at Podfluence. That said when you are listening to Holiday songs by Wham!, true crime doesn’t always fit well into the rotation. So if you find yourself looking to lighten up your mood around the Holiday season and post Holiday Blues, we have a great recommendation.

Unsolved Death Murder Crimes (UDMC) is a true-crime parody series that is presented in multi-narrative form. The story follows two Los Angeles based podcasters, Dawn and Hadley, as they travel to Wisconsin to solve a case of a listener’s grandma’s death. Sounds in line with a typical true-crime podcast, right? Not too fast! The listener’s grandmother has been run over by a reindeer…let the hilarity ensue.

This podcast is perfect for binge-listening at it’s 10 minute listening time, you will be able to get through all 5 parts in under an hour. If you are driving to an NYE party today, this is your podcast. UDMC is flush with highly talented television and podcast writers, so there is no lack of entertainment here. The podcast is written by Danielle Evenson (“The New Adventures of Old Christine”) and Heather Huntington. They have assembled a fantastic roster of talent voicings from Jessica DiGiovanni ( appearing on “Seared” off-Broadway) and Sarah Randall Hunt (“Blackish” and “Stupid Cupid”) who are backed up by D. Elliot Woods, Lauren Blumenfeld (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) and CBS Diversity Comedy picks Jorge Berrios, Joe Conte, and Ethan Stanislawski.

This lighthearted podcast fits perfectly into your crazy holiday schedule and will help release any holiday stress or general family annoyance. It’s a great distraction from the holiday madness and a nice change of pace from crimes not involving reindeer. UDMC was created by and stars a female-led team (writers, producers, directors, stars, editor, sound designer) and was recorded at a cooperative workspace for working mothers, The Jane Club.

We highly recommend this podcast for all listeners, and it is the perfect podcast to listen to before New Years Eve!
